Blind Staffie Meets His Forever Friend, a Guide

When Jess Martin volunteered at her neighborhood animal shelter, she met a handsome Staffordshire named Amos who was born blind. She invited him into her home as soon as she learned he was having trouble finding his forever family.

Amos's temporary family gradually transformed into the place that would change his life forever. Jess was initially worried about Toby, her 9-year-old terrier, and his foster sibling's behavior. Jess's closest friend was Toby.

The idea of growing their small family sounded a little daunting, but they had taken some amazing vacations together and had developed a wonderful friendship. After a few tense days, Toby and Amos' romance blossomed.

Before meeting Jess, Amos had never been inside a home as he had lived his entire life in a rescue center. Amos was scared of TV sounds, prone to running into walls, and even hated the feel of carpet under his paws. For the blind puppy, simple tasks like locating the water bowl were very challenging. At first, Toby wasn't sure about Amos, but Jess felt something extraordinary.

If Toby observed Amos stooping to locate his water bowl, she would direct him in the appropriate direction. It started off as an occasional friendly prod and became into Amos's way of getting his own advice. The fact that Jess and her family had yet another beloved partner was known to them. As Amos grew older, an ophthalmologist examined him.

It was decided that removing his eyes would be the most respectful course of action because they surely caused him daily worry and anguish. Soon after the operation, Toby started acting as Amos' "unofficial seeing-eye dog."

When Amos and Toby started to walk together for the first time, Amos became upset. uneasy. He expects to be terrified by the sounds around him and to need to lay down periodically to calm down. As soon as he could, Toby would lay down next to him and wait for him to begin. Our canine friends' favorite pastime is now hiking around the hills!

Toby helps Amos get back on track whenever he strays by giving him body bumps and nudges as they cross the hills. They respect each other's boundaries and have a wonderful discourse. Although Amos has developed his trekking abilities, there is still more to discover in the wild. This category includes interactions and socialization with other dogs.

Amos is unable to communicate like a typical dog, which causes many canines to be delayed, therefore Toby commonly serves as a go-between in these circumstances.

Toby and Jess collaborate each day to develop his social skills! Amos couldn't have asked for a more plain guide and bodyguard than Toby! For the remainder of their life, they must find a friend.
