Because they can always stand up after falling, cats are commonly referred to as having "nine lives." However, the same may be said about one dog who valiantly jumped out of a second-story window and out of a blazing house.
Dog bravely jumps out of window to flee burning house |
NBC Philadelphia reported that Justin Steinmetz, a man, saw a smoke-filled house in Fleetwood, Berks County, on his way to work. Justin desperately tried to obtain aid even though there were no people inside the house because all of the adults and children were at work or in school.
He attempted to put out the fire with a hose but failed, so he got another driver to dial 911. Soon, firefighters were on the scene to put out the fires.
However, things took a dramatic turn when Charlie, the family dog, appeared through the second-story window of the house and started scrambling for a way out.
Charlie was urged by the firefighters to jump out the window, which was his only means of escape. The dog makes a daring leap in a dramatic moment that Justin managed to record on camera. He survived the fire, but it had left him burned.
According to Justin, "He had a mouth full of smoke, lungs full of smoke, and he jumped to safety." "What matters is that he jumped when he had to."
After escaping the house, the family's second dog and two cats were also discovered on the scene.
The Stump family, the homeowners, "lost everything" in the fire, which is excellent for the animals but unfortunate for them. They started a GoFundMe effort to get back on their feet after losing their house.
The site states, "We are extremely fortunate that they are safe, but we are terribly aware that their lives will be greatly damaged as a result of the horrific fire to their home today. For the family, the page has raised $40,000.
The family's dogs' survival, according to Justin, who owns a farm and says he would lend them some baby goats for "goat therapy," is a significant bright spot.
The important thing, he told NBC, is that "I feel grateful that the animals got out alive."
How brave you were to flee this burning house! We're so relieved that Charlie is safe right now, and we're sending this family our best wishes as they deal with the aftermath of this terrible incident.
